HR-TRENDS SURVEYS
Since August 2009, the Council has conducted a brief survey on a regular basis of Canadian supply chain employers, asking them to report on their expectations for the coming month related to hiring, layoffs and training investments. We also ask them to let us know their current major HR-related challenges. Initially conducted once a month, the surveys are now done each quarter, starting in January 2012.
The results of these surveys provide a snapshot of trends in the sector. Based on a dozen or so responses each time, the results give us just a temperature reading for the sector, not a full forecast. The Alliance of Sector Councils presents the results, along with those of similar surveys done by other sector councils, to Human Resources & Skills Development Canada to provide up-to-date labour-market information for a cross-section of the Canadian marketplace.
